JOB TITLE / WHAT I DO: Filmmaker
ABOUT ME: I have just graduated college with a degree in sociopolitical science and film-making. My thesis film was about one of America's first industrial cities that currently struggles amidst the recession, crime rates, and failing schools. The documentary was designed as a tool for the youth to engage these issues, illuminate the importance of education, and to empower themselves to make a change in society. I worked with the children growing up in the city and helped them build their own personal films. That year I was also hired to create three documentary shorts to be sent to the White House Council for the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award. By the end of the year I was publicly named a Youth Leader and was sent to meet First Lady Michelle Obama. I am currently working for the Holyoke Health Center producing a video about the HIV/AIDs epidemic in the city.
