“Where Are All the Black People?” is a follow up to a successful panel held during the 2011 Creative Week in New York and moderated by Jeff Goodby and Jimmy Smith. Our aim is to provide concrete, real world solutions to the lack of diversity in advertising creative departments. This one-day event will include speakers, testimonials from creatives of African American backgrounds, portfolio reviews for students and professionals and sessions with agency recruiters. There will also be an opportunity to tell a panel of recruiters or creative directors why you should be their next creative hire with a 3-minute “elevator pitch.” Our goal is to have as many participants as possible walk away with a job offer, a confirmed second interview, or a paid internship. Participants will also have the opportunity to connect with a mentor, meet professional contacts in the industry and establish a valuable network.
